September 20 Worship Focus

As the fall begins, we embark on another journey through the biblical story from beginning to end, following the Narrative Lectionary. In Genesis chapter 12, God speaks, promising Abraham land, descendants, and blessing. But accepting the promise requires Abraham to leave his familiar sources of presumed security behind. So also following Jesus in the way of discipleship can be an invitation to a risky journey into the unknown. What does it look like to trust God when we cannot attain for ourselves what we and the world most deeply need?
