Our worship at Bethel continues a year-long series working through the biblical story from beginning to end, following the Narrative Lectionary. This Thanksgiving Sunday we will hear the story of young Samuel, who first learns to recognize God’s voice in the quiet of the night. Together, we will reflect on how gratitude is not only about making lists of blessings but about learning to listen and respond to God’s call in the midst of our lives. Some parts of us are ready to give thanks, others may feel weary, and at the same time God meets us in it all. At the heart of thanksgiving is Samuel’s simple prayer: “Here I am.”
