Coming Soon - Bethel Storyteller

Storytelling is an ancient art and is built into the fabric of our humanity. Bethel is a community that values stories as they play an important part in building spiritual and social connections. Having said that, many stories remain untold—stories that might strengthen bonds, foster compassion and understanding, and spark delight and joy.

The Communications Committee has been thinking about ways to grow our “story garden”. We have been working on a plan to help this come into bloom. With financial backing from the Legacy Fund, we are preparing to contract with a Bethel Storyteller on a part-time basis for the remainder of 2024; this person will play an important role in sowing the seeds for storytelling in our congregation. The storyteller will train and mentor a team of interested writers from Bethel so that the team can carry the momentum forward to ensure that the story garden continues to grow and thrive. In addition, the storyteller will report on Bethel’s program activities and write personal stories about the people. There will be a relatively equal balance between the two roles. The stories that are created will find expression in our worship services through the telling of children’s stories in the worship services, through Adult Ed sessions and through our Bethel eNews publications and our website.

The candidate we are looking for will be an experienced writer and will have a demonstrated ability to teach/monitor a team of writers. If you have these skills and are interested in exploring the Storyteller position, please contact the church office by February 11. Further details will be provided on the services to be provided, the time expectations, and payment details.
