The Bethel Mennonite Little Free Library is one of more than fifty found in Winnipeg. The Little Free Library project was initiated by two Wisconsin book lovers in 2010 and now there are more than 50,000 of them in 70 countries facilitating the exchange of 60 million books a year. People are invited to take a book from a Little Free Library or donate one. Bethel joined this global movement to promote literacy and a love of reading in 2016. The church librarian worked together with an architect, a carpenter, and a graphic designer from the congregation to make the Bethel Little Free Library a reality. It has become a popular community landmark with hundreds of books rotating through its shelves each year.
