August 31 Worship Focus –

Our summer worship series features a wide range of texts and topics drawn from the questions we have received from the Bethel community via our Suggestion Box. This week’s question relates to the story of the Gerasene demoniac in Mark chapter 5, specifically wondering about the pigs into whom the demons are sent in this text. How are we to think about the loss of these pigs, which were somebody’s livelihood—and isn’t showing compassion for this loss a part of what we mean when we say that we are to love our neighbours, and even our enemies?
