Our worship at Bethel continues a year-long series working through the biblical story from beginning to end, following the Narrative Lectionary. This week we remain with the prophets of the Old Testament, landing particularly on one of Isaiah’s oracles of hope in the birth of a new king. “For a child has been born for us, a son given to us.” Christians have long read the birth of Jesus in these words, which begin to point us already to the Advent season just around the corner. What kind of a saviour do we hope and long for?
