March 24 – Worship Focus

·         Theme: Lent 6 (Palm Sunday) – Covenant Journeys: The Way of the Servant

·         Scripture: John 12:12-16, Philippians 2:5-11

Our Lenten worship for this season invites us into the story of God’s covenant relationship with God’s beloved creatures. From Genesis onwards, God makes covenants that get renewed and reshaped in different times and places, addressing changing contexts and the repeated failures of God’s people to live up to the relationship. But we see in these covenants a single trajectory of God’s love for creation that takes its fullest shape in the person of Jesus Christ and the new covenant that gets established through his death and resurrection. This week we celebrate the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem, recognizing that in the humility of the servant this procession marches now on a path directly to the cross.
