The Boys in the Boat

You may have seen the popular recent movie The Boys in the Boat, which tells the story of a team of rowers from the United States who head to the Olympics in Nazi Germany in 1936. The movie is based on the book The Boys in the Boat, by Daniel James Brown. The University of Washington’s rowing team was made up of nine working-class boys who were never expected to beat elite teams from other countries to win the Olympic gold medal. But they did, defeating the German team in the finals. This is an uplifting true story about courage and determination.
